Working for us as a Live-in Carer

We can assist you in obtaining work as a Live-in Carer – you can download the Job Description for OPC Live in Carer  here.

You will need to complete the full application form under the Working for Us section and your application will be processed. If you are successful, you will be invited for interview and to take place on our induction course before we can assign any work to you.

All applicants must have an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) (formerly Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)) disclosure, a Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) or Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) check, provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom, and provide two work related references.

We have two levels of live-in care:

Level One – Domestic, social assistance and personal care

This includes housework, laundry, ironing, meal planning and cooking, money management including shopping and pension collection, dealing with correspondence, pet care, household plant care, assisting with public transport, attending social outings and places of worship, dressing, undressing, bathing, toileting, medication management, oral hygiene and personal grooming, feeding, mobilising and transferring using hoists etc, responding to night calls for general reassurance and care needs, catheter care, post operative care following elective surgery, preventative pressure area care.

Level Two – Complex care

As Level One plus:

Pressure area care for immobile clients, stoma care, dealing with memory loss, dealing with frustration, irritation, anxiety and agitation, dealing with profound dementia, post operative care following major surgery and terminal/palliative care.
